This policy describes what happens to your information when you use InspireTools. It is written to be read, not to hide things.

Who we are

InspireTools is operated by InspireCare, Office No. 73, 3rd Floor, Dawa Bazar, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India - 452 001. For the limited personal data described below, InspireCare is the data fiduciary under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

The short version

Files, text and other content you put into a tool are processed in your browser. They are not uploaded to our servers, unless a tool clearly states otherwise before you use it.
You do not need an account, and we do not ask who you are.
We keep anonymous usage totals so we can improve the tools. They contain no file contents and are not linked to you.
We do not sell data, and we do not use advertising trackers.

Content you process

Each tool shows a label describing how it works:

Processed on your device: everything happens in your browser. Your content never leaves your device.
Processed on your device (engine downloaded on first use): the same, but the tool first downloads a processing engine from our site. Your content still stays on your device.

At present every tool works in one of these two ways. If we ever add a tool that needs to send content to a server, it will be labelled clearly, the page will explain what is sent and how long it is kept, and nothing will be sent until you choose to start.

Passwords, keys and other secrets you generate or type into tools are never stored, logged or transmitted.

Usage statistics

When you open or use a tool, we may record a count of that event. Each record contains:

which tool it was, and the kind of event (opened, started, completed, failed, downloaded);
the date (not the time);
a broad device class (desktop, tablet or mobile) and browser family.

It does not contain your IP address, a user or device identifier, file names, file contents, text you entered or results. Searches made in the site search may be counted by search term so we can see what people look for; terms that look like personal data are not recorded.

If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal, these counts are not recorded at all.

Storage on your device

Your favourite tools, recently used tools and theme choice are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.

The site sets a small number of essential cookies to keep it secure (for example, to protect forms against forged requests). They are not used to track you and there are no advertising or analytics cookies.

When offline support is enabled, your browser keeps a copy of the site's pages and engines so tools open quickly and work without a connection.

Messages you send us

If you use the contact, feedback, problem report or tool suggestion forms, we store what you write, and your email address if you choose to give one, so that we can act on it and reply. Sending a message is your consent to that use, and we do not use your message or email address for anything else, such as marketing. Please do not include passwords or sensitive personal information in these messages.

These messages are the only personal data we hold about you, and only if you send one. They are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your message, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.

Server logs

Like any website, the servers that deliver InspireTools keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, time and page requested) for security and troubleshooting. These logs are not combined with the usage statistics above.

Third parties

The site does not load scripts, fonts or other resources from third-party servers, and it contains no third-party analytics or advertising code.

The currency converter uses the European Central Bank's public reference rates. Our server downloads them once each working day; your browser receives them from our site and never contacts the ECB, and the amounts you enter stay on your device.

Children

InspireTools is a general-purpose utility site and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal data of yours we hold, to correct it, or to erase it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Because we only hold messages you have sent us, this usually means telling you about, correcting or deleting those messages. You may also nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you are unable to.

Grievances

If you have a concern about how your personal data is handled, contact our Grievance Officer through the contact page, or write to: Grievance Officer, InspireCare, Office No. 73, 3rd Floor, Dawa Bazar, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India - 452 001. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within the time allowed by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the change will be described here and the "last updated" date on this page will change.
