Where do the rates come from?

They are the euro foreign exchange reference rates published by the European Central Bank each working day at around 16:00 Central European Time. Other pairs, such as US dollar to Indian rupee, are calculated through the euro.

Why is my bank's rate different?

These are mid-market reference rates for information. Banks, card providers and money changers add a margin and fees, so the amount you actually receive will usually be lower.

Which currencies are covered?

The euro and the 29 or so currencies the ECB publishes, including the Indian rupee, US dollar, pound, yen, Singapore dollar and Australian dollar. Currencies the ECB does not publish, such as the UAE dirham, are not available.
